Labor Day Getaway!

Since we didn't go on a family vacation this summer, we decided we at least needed to make the effort to do a one-night getaway over Labor Day weekend.

 So we headed up to Park City, which we love to do in the late summer/ early fall because the rooms are cheap and it's gorgeous up there

We wanted to make the most of our one-nighter, so we loaded the kids' bikes into the van and decided we would rent some bikes and ride around for a while before check-in.

Total bust.

Every bike rental place either didn't have bikes for rent that day (weird) or they didn't have a trailer or seat for us to put Kyle in.

So we decided to just hit the city park instead.

I think the kids had just as much fun, they loved it.

 

Justin was trying to get tricky on the swings and had a little accident. :)

After the park, we headed toward the hotel (in the background) and rode the ski lift. The kids thought that was pretty awesome. How cute are they?

At the top of the ski lift they had a big area with an outdoor concert, shops, vendors and this giant chess board the kids thought was really cool.

After we checked in, the kids had fun exploring our room and we got in our suits and headed out to swim for a while. I mostly sat in the hot tub. Don't worry, I didn't put my belly in. I was laughing though because the big Rules sign by the hot tub said "Pregnant women should not use the pool or hot tub without first consulting a physician."

The pool? Really? We live in the most lawsuit-phobic world.

After swimming, we drove out to Heber (about 20 minutes away) to go to Granny's for dinner. It's this little old house that they converted into a restaurant. Justin used to go there growing up and loves their milkshakes. We met up with Devin and Candace (Justin's bro and his wife). It was really fun but I have to say the food was pretty disappointing. I guess it turns out they got bought out by somebody else a few years back and it's not the same Granny's it used to be. Oh well, we had fun, and the drive was gorgeously scenic.

On our way back, we stopped at Liberty Park and played.
The kids rode their bikes around, played on the giant playground, played in the wade area, rode the paddle boat and had snow cones. It was a fun little staycation and now it's off to the waterpark for the last day of the season!
